Self-guided Day Trips

We can help plan your stay with us and have put together the following suggestions for days out to nearby cities, nature reserves and beaches. We can also book restaurants, tickets to palaces and tours and organize activities for you.

There are spectactular world heritage walking sites, less than an hour away, such as El Torcal and Caminito del Rey. Nearby historic towns such as Antequera, or White towns and villages, (Comares is the highest town in Andalusia) and Osuna to explore their Castles and Roman ruins. Rio Frio is a pretty village full of fish retaurants, 15 minutes away and famous for trout farms and caviar. Alternatively you could book a day on a boat, dolphin watching from Caleta or Malaga or go hire bikes to go cycling through the mountains or on the Via Verde. Our favourite ideas are as follows;

Beach trip for BBQ sardines

There are great beaches less than an hour away in pretty little Spanish coastal resorts such as El Palo, Torre Del Mar, Velez Malaga and Caleta de Velez.

Our favourite is El Palo, a typical Spanish beach resort perfect for a day or early evening visit, 45 minutes away by car. Stay for a meal by the beach and feast on traditional BBQ’d sardines or fish.

Kayaking at the lake Iznajar

Enjoy a day out at the stunning Iznajar lake (40 minutes away). Rent a kayak or pedalo. Combine your visit to Iznajar town, a pretty white hilltop town perched on a rock! Visit the castle and enjoy some tapas in a local café.
